Developing a Practice in Storytelling, Writing and Creative Reflection
My creative practice brings together combined arts, storytelling and reflective creative practice to explore themes of home, belonging, memory, care and identity.
Over the past five years I have developed participatory creative work with children, young people and adults, using visual arts, making and storytelling to create spaces for connection, reflection and shared experience. Looking back across this work, I can see the same questions returning in different forms.
This page shares some of the projects that have shaped my practice and introduces the creative inquiry that is now leading me towards writing and storytelling as the next stage of my artistic development.
We're All Just Visiting is an emerging creative enquiry exploring how belonging, care, impermanence and memory are carried through stories, objects, places and relationships.
Emerging Creative Inquiry
Looking back across my practice, I can see the same themes returning in different forms. Through storytelling, making and reflective creative practice I find myself drawn to questions of home, belonging, memory, care and identity.
These themes have gradually become an ongoing creative inquiry that I think of as We're All Just Visiting.
It is an exploration of how we move through the world, what connects us to people and places, and what we leave behind. Not only the objects we make or the places we inhabit, but the stories we tell, the relationships we build and the impact we have on one another.
Some of the questions that continue to shape my practice include:
- What makes somewhere feel like home?
- How do stories shape our sense of belonging?
- What traces of ourselves do we leave behind?
- How can writing, storytelling and combined arts help us explore these questions?

Looking Ahead
For much of my career I have created spaces where other people could explore and share their stories through creativity. Increasingly, I have found myself asking what happens when those same questions become part of my own artistic practice.
I am now seeking dedicated time to deepen my practice as a writer and storyteller, exploring where this creative inquiry may lead through writing, reflection and combined arts. Rather than working towards a predetermined outcome, I hope to discover new ways of making, thinking and telling stories that will shape the next chapter of my creative practice.
